A Message from Bill Cooper, Chair
"It is the position of the Snohomish County Republican Party to await the results of the
investigation being done on Aaron Reardon before making judgement or taking action, if
any is warranted. Under our government and system of law, a person is innocent until
proven guilty. If this county party makes statements that Reardon should resign or
step down or place himself on leave, and then he is exonerated, our credibility will
suffer, with an emphasis on having the party associated with law and order assuming
guilt before it's proven. If these allegations are sustained the county party will
make a statement about what its thoughts or actions will be, if any. In addition,
I have made statements to the media that this is not and can not be a Democrat versus
Republican issue. This is about a position of public trust and there must be a higher
standard. It is my belief and position that regardless of party or who occupies what
office, we would be as assertive with these problems with whomever sits there, regardless
of party affiliation. We should not be or get distracted by any attempts to label this
as a party issue. It is, and always has been, about the integrity and ethics required
to hold office. Once the investigations are done, we'll loop back with everyone. So
you know, we are investigating what options we have available to us if the allegations
are sustained, and what the best option would be, depending ont he outcome. Thank you
all for being who you are."
